Honestly the movie reminded me how in the last nearly 10 years, Japan started making way better "princess" movies than Disney in its downfall since Frozen as the last good one.
The movie is very pretty for a 3D movie, always tries to show its world rather than tell about it, heavily recommended for sakugafags who wants to see where 3D anime stands now and how far we got. I think the big screen also helps the 3D come through better than watching it on say, a monitor. It's a very audiovisual experience.
The story is simple but a bit artsy and there might be a bit too much monologue to some. It's mostly a character drama, after all, so the characters reflect on themselves. Good background instrumental, obvious when needed but also blends in as ambiance other times. The vocal songs are very good as well.
Just realized laying in bed after getting home that "wait, wasn't this just anime Hamlet but with a princess?" I don't even know why I didn't realized that and it just clicked then... it's actually very obvious with the names.
